Raritan Valley Community College’s Business and Public Service Department will present “Low Man on the Totem Pole – How I Became a White Collar Criminal,” a virtual presentation featuring Helen Sharkey, Tuesday, March 30, at 1 p.m. The event, which is free of change and open to the public, will be held via Zoom. It is part of the Business and Public Service Department’s guest speaker series.
Those interested in the program should register in advance at https://raritanval-edu.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_DxIXWqxqQu6ZGn9m1ROOYA. After registering for the lecture, participants will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to join the webinar.
When Helen Sharkey was hired as an accountant in 1996 by Dynegy—an up-and-coming energy trading company in Houston—she had no idea that her dream job would ultimately lead to 28 days in a maximum-security federal prison. But that’s exactly what happened. During the program, Sharkey will share her stunning and compelling story and discuss the important topics of corporate ethics and accountability, whistleblower responsibilities, and what not to do when faced with an ethical dilemma. The speaker will offer important insights for current and future business professionals. The program will include a question-and-answer session with Sharkey.
