Motorists say high gas prices are forcing them to change plans

The average price of gas is now over $5 a gallon in New Jersey and motorists won’t find cheaper prices in neighboring states. Warehouse retailers like Costco and BJ’s — which used to allow non-members to fill up at their gas stations — will now require customers to have a store membership in order to buy gas. That change starts on July 5 as motorists scour the state for the best bargain or discounted gas.

“It’s definitely cutting into my family’s expenses — what we can use for food, housing,” said Fernando Semiao from Montville.
