Consumers Are Anxious About Food Supply & Safety
It’s Important to Share Information with Members & Associates

Across the nation, as well as here in NJ, consumers are increasingly anxious about the availability of food and other essential household items. Shoppers express concern about their ability to have enough food for their households in the coming weeks. This is accompanied by concerns over food safety as producers and manufactures face COVID-19 infections among workers and fears of contaminating products.
Strong commitment to cooperation between government and food producers and suppliers will assure adequate and safe supplies. Shortages or out of stocks for some food items and household products will likely be experienced in certain areas for limited periods. However, the supply chain will remain resilient if consumers work together by encouraging friends, families, and neighbors to purchase only what is needed for a week or two at a time.
Information about food supply and safety can be found at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) website, the website of the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and that of the NJ Food Council (NJFC).
