DoughMain Financial Literacy Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to building a better tomorrow by educating students today, in order to forge a financially fit America.

Teachers lack the resources to effectively teach personal finance.

In the wake of the 2008 global recession, DoughMain Financial Literacy Foundation (DMFLF) was founded over a three-year period of extensive discussion and planning among New Jersey parents, educators, and entrepreneurs with the goal of promoting lifelong financial literacy, responsibility, and ethical financial behavior among youth. When core financial education standards began emerging across the country, many resource-challenged school districts struggled to implement them. Through discussions with educators, the group determined that if substantive, core-compliant, easily-implemented curricula, supportive materials, and teacher support could be developed and made available to school districts across the country, the group’s core objective in providing direct support of a lasting nature to schools and their students would be met.

Out of this, DoughMain Financial Literacy Foundation was formally incorporated in New Jersey in 2012, and in 2013 was granted IRS tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) as a public charity. Apart from educators working on curriculum development, DMFLF has a predominantly volunteer staff, including an Executive Director; development, marketing, and administrative staff volunteers; and college interns – all dedicated to bringing personal finance education to young men and women.

The DMFLF Board of Trustees consists of 11 active members. The organization’s principal offices are located in Princeton, New Jersey. Since its inception, DoughMain Financial Literacy Foundation has created and tested a curriculum that has become one of the most popular in the schools where it has been implemented.
