Legislative Update
The legislature has completed its work for 2021. It will meet briefly in early January before adjourning sine die. The new legislature will be sworn in and the new legislative session will begin.
Monday, December 20: Senate and Assembly Voting Sessions
Committee Action on Bill(s) that may be of interest to NJCFE members:
S-969: Establishes loan redemption program for teachers in certain fields to redeem loan amounts received under New Jersey College Loans to Assist State Students Loan Program through employment in certain low performing schools. December 2, governor’s conditional veto received. S-969 placed on 2nd Reading to concur/with Governor’s recommendation. Next Scheduled Action: December 20, 2021, Senate vote.
A-5380: Requires institutions of higher education to provide certain student loan information. Favorably reported by Assembly Higher Education Committee on June 2nd. Next Scheduled Action: December 20, Assembly vote.
