S-3405:  Provides that all financial assistance shall be the property of the individual that is entitled to the assistance, and shall be reserved, both before and after the individual’s death, for the individual’s use, or that of the individual’s family or estate, and shall not be liable to be seized or taken by virtue of any execution or civil process whatever, issued out of any court of this State.  Favorably reported by Senate Commerce Committee on Feb. 13, 2021. A-2286: Requires institutions of higher education to provide graduating students with information on income-contingent student loan repayment programs. Scheduled for consideration by the Assembly Higher Education Committee on Feb. 19, 2021.

S-985: Provides that public institutions of higher education may only reduce student’s institutional financial aid upon receipt of private scholarship under certain circumstances. Passed by the Senate last July, the legislation is scheduled for consideration by the Assembly Higher Education Committee on Feb. 19, 2021.

S-2358: Requires registration of private education lenders; establishes protections for private education borrowers. Having passed the Senate in January 2020, the legislation is scheduled for consideration by the Assembly Higher Education Committee on Feb. 19, 2021

S-3033: Establishes School and Small Business Energy Efficiency Stimulus Program in BPU.  Having been favorably reported by the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee on Feb. 11, the legislation’s next action will be a vote by the full Senate, TBD
