“Money.. What Young Adults NEED to Know”

There is a popular phrase that “knowledge is power.” We’ve brought together information that will help you gain that power — power to manage your credit cards, buy a car, protect yourself from identity thieves, avoid overpriced lenders and credit practices, and make your money work for you.

Use this publication to arm yourself with information to navigate today’s increasingly complex economy. Make compound interest work for you, by saving and investing, rather than against you by borrowing more than you can afford to repay. Today is the first day of the rest of your financial life.

Make the most of it. Download this publication here.

FREE Reverse Mortage Counseling Services Still Available!

Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley continues to offer reverse mortgage counseling for free! Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley (CCCSDV) has provided reverse mortgage counseling since 2002 and has been an important resource for seniors even when they do not qualify for a reverse mortgage.

CCCSDV will continue to waive the usual $125 counseling fee in order to help more homeowners learn how a reverse mortgage loan can help them remain in their homes.

We have been fortunate enough to receive grant funds through July 31st to help us offer counseling to seniors at no cost to them. Many seniors are looking for the loan to help them through financially difficult times and may not be able to afford a fee. We know that this will be relief to them.

Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley is a local non-profit that has helped over 500,000 individuals and families since 1966. CCCSDV counselors are certified by the National Foundation on Credit Counseling and HUD. We have 15 certified reverse mortgage counselors on staff.

Did You Know?
Recently Arthur C. Brooks wrote an article in the Op-Ed Section of the Wall Street Journal in which he recalled the now famous 1972 Stamford psychologist who did an ingenious experiment. He placed a marshmallow in front of young children and told them if they wait fifteen minutes before eating the marshmallow they would receive a second one as a reward. Thus, for the investment of fifteen minutes they could have two marshmallows instead of one. About two thirds of the children failed the experiment as they desired immediate gratification and gobbled up the single marshmallow right away. What are we doing to teach our children to save?
